PUBLIC NOTICE
To All Interested Parties:

Notice is hereby given that the North East Texas Regional Water Planning Group (NETRWPG) is considering amendments to the Regional Water Plan of NETRWPG. The North East Texas Regional Water Planning Group area, also known as Region D, includes the following counties: Bowie, Camp, Cass, Delta, Franklin, Gregg, Harrison, Hopkins, Hunt, Lamar, Marion, Morris, Rains, Red River, Smith (partial), Titus, Upshur, Van Zandt and Wood. Prior to taking action on the amendments, a public hearing will be held and there will be a public comment period following the public hearing. The NETRWPG will accept written and oral comments on the proposed action at the public hearing and will accept written comments during the public comment period.

Comments may be provided at the public hearing or may be provided to the NETRWPG by sending the comments to the attention of the Administrator for the NETRWPG, NETMWD, at PO Box 955, 4180 Highway 250, Hughes Springs, TX 75656. The deadline for submission of public written comments is 31 days after the date of the public hearing.

The date, time, and location of the public hearing is as follows:

Notice is given that a public hearing on the possible amendments will be held on October 30, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilmer Civic Center, U.S. Highway 271 North, Gilmer, Texas 75644.

A summary of the proposed action to be taken is as follows:

The proposed action is to amend the North East Texas Regional Water Planning Group (NETWRPG) Plan by changing language and recommendations in the plan referring to the Marvin Nichols I reservoir site. The proposed actions being considered include deleting Marvin Nichols I as a proposed reservoir site and changing Marvin Nichols I from a proposed reservoir site to a potential reservoir site and including recommendations for further study related to each possible reservoir site. The further studies should address relevant site-specific topics such as mitigation effects, economic effects, effects on local property owners, effects on taxing entities, future water needs of potential consumers, environmental effects, effects on the agricultural and natural resources, and alternative viable water management strategies.
