Green Hill
About three miles east of Talco
on Texas Highway 71, if you turn right, south, you will go to
Mount Pleasant along Farm Road 2152, known locally as the "Green
Hill Road". This is a general view looking south across from
the entrance to historic Bunion Cemetery, pictured below. Like
so many other cemeteries, Bunion Cemetery would have to be moved
if Marvin Nichols II were ever constructed.
This large cattle ranch, with mansion
in the background, would be flooded by the Marvin Nichols II Reservoir.
Note the profusion of wildflowers alongside the road.
This view is looking south towards
White Oak Creek, which is located at the end of the road in this
photograph. All of this bottomland area would be flooded by Marvin
Nichols II, cutting off vehicle access on this farm road as well
as Farm Road 1402 from Sugar Hill to Mount Pleasant, unless they
would construct causeways similar to the one across Lake Ray Hubbard
east of Dallas.
Views of White Oak Creek from the
bridge on the Green Hill Road, about eight miles north of Mount
Pleasant.
This is a view looking south towards
Mount Pleasant from south of White Oak Creek. All of this land
is now being stripmined for coal to fuel generating plants, cooled
by other artificial Lakes Monticello and Welsh, that create electricity
for Dallas.
