Oak Grove
This is a highway intersection in
the community of Oak Grove, about four miles north of Mount Pleasant
on Farm Road 1402 or "Harts Bluff Road". An historic
old church building has been converted into the offices of the
Willow Oak Mount Pleasant Art Society. If you turn left here,
west, at the Art Society, you will travel down some country roads
to the all-season M Bar J Indoor Rodeo Arena.
Note the profusion of wild pink
roses growing on the fence alongside the road.
This is the M Bar J Indoor Rodeo
Arena. They have rodeos every weekend of the year. In the spring
or fall, the arena is open-air to natural conditions; but in the
hot summertime it is air-conditioned inside, and heated in the
dead of winter. Although I've never actually been to a rodeo at
this arena, since rodeos aren't my favorite entertainment in life,
I have heard "rumors" that this arena is much like an
Orange Blossom Special Ballroom with a rodeo arena in the middle,
instead of a dancefloor. Party on, dudes, whilst it lasts! This
low-lying rodeo arena area just might be flooded by Marvin Nichols
II! And that is yet another, in a long string of reasons, that
plans for these proposed reservoirs should be abandoned as abominable!
