Cuthand Creek
When one leaves Boxelder on Road
412, one passes the intersection of Road 1487 which goes west
to Maple and Cuthand. The Magic Valley Ranch and "North Evergreen"
Cemetery are about a mile on down 412 from this intersection,
so I backtracked a little bit and turned west on 1487. Notice
the already existent 5-foot flood-gauge beside the highway. Therefore,
occasionally this area must be flooded already. This is about
a mile east of Cuthand Creek, and this area would be permanently
flooded if the new lake were constructed. One wonders in passing
if the lake-water would even reach to the top of this flood-gauge!
I doubt it.
This is a view of Cuthand Creek
looking north from the 1487 road bridge. The following picture
is a view looking south from the bridge.
This is the historic Cuthand Community
Cemetery. One would hope that it would not be necessary to move
this large graveyard with all its monuments and ancestral remains.
But it wouldn't be far from the proposed new lakeshore, that's
for sure!
This is a general view along the
highway west of the Cuthand Community.
This is historic Rosalie Church
in the Rosalie Community between Cuthand and Bogata. From Boxelder
to Cuthand is about 11 miles, and from Cuthand to Rosalie and
Bogata is another 12 miles.
