Sulphur River Gallery 22
Dalby Springs
Travelling northeast on Interstate
30 from Mount Pleasant, after you pass the exit for US Highway
259, as shown in Gallery 5, two and
a half miles east of that exit, you cross Sulphur River on the
Interstate bridge. I did not stop to take any photographs there.
Across the river, the Interstate is divided by a long stand of
trees. The above photograph shows only the eastbound lanes of
I-30. Five and a half miles from the river, I exited on Road 561
and went west to Dalby Springs, which is a different community
than Dalby near Mount Zion.
This is a view of Interstate Highway
30 from the overpass at Road 561, looking southwest towards Mount
Pleasant.
This is a typical scene along Road
561. From the Interstate to the Dalby Church and US Highway 259
north is about three miles.
This is the historic Dalby Springs
Church and Cemetery, across Road 561 from the old redwater pump,
all that is left of the long-gone Dalby Springs spa complex of
bygone years. This area would not be directly affected by a new
reservoir, but it would be forever cut off from its sister communities
buried beneath the water. Note the quaint little storage room
built directly onto the side of the church. I had never seen that
before. This church has an official historical marker to the left
of the front door. Continuing on down Road 561 for a tenth of
a mile brings you to US Highway 259, north to Oklahmoa and south
to Longview, Texas. About a half-mile south of this intersection
is West Bowie Supply.
