Sulphur River Gallery 2
Murphy Branch

The above four pictures are designed
to be seen in pairs side by side, as panoramic views. You will
need to expand your browser window to the maximum here. The first
pair shows a view south from I-30 towards Murphy Branch, and the
second, a view north. If you look carefully at a large-scale map,
you'll notice that this "lake" formed by Murphy Branch
is actually the westernmost end of Wright Patman Reservoir! These
photos were taken about a mile west of the Interstate Exit to
US 259, but "as the crow flies" it is a distance of
about 36 miles to the actual Wright Patman Dam. From here to the
southern end of the proposed Marvin Nichols Dam is only about
3 miles, so where one lake ends, another will begin. Nothing will
remain of the historic bottomland!
JOIN THE RESISTANCE!
The final photo is the northeasternmost
slough of this large reservoir. This is apparently a bird sanctuary,
as there were hundreds of birds flying around everywhere.
